We are seeking a highly detail orientated individual to join our team as Risk and Internal Audit Clerk . This role combines the analytical skills of an internal auditor with the operational expertise of a stock controller, playing a crucial role in safeguarding our inventory and ensuring compliance with company policies and regulations. The successful candidate will be responsible for assessing compliance with the Company’s policies and procedures at store and support office levels, conduct inventory counts at our warehouses in Western Cape and Gauteng and stores.

The position is based at the Support Office in Cape Town, however extensive local travel will be required to ensure compliance. The position will report into our Chief Financial Officer.

Roles and Responsibilities

Stock Control:

  • Set-up inventory count plan and oversee and manage cyclical and physical inventory counts, ensuring accuracy and completeness per planned schedule.
  • Conduct inventory counts at high risk areas and oversee and review results of all counts.
  • Investigate and resolve discrepancies between physical and system inventory levels.
  • Implement and maintain effective stock control procedures to prevent shrinkage and fraud.
  • Adhere to company policies and procedures related to inventory management.

Internal Audit:

  • Ensure a strong internal control environment within the company and adherence to company processes and controls.
  • Execute internal audit plans based on identified risks and control weaknesses.
  • Conduct financial and operational audits.
  • Investigate any potential fraud within the business.
  • Assess the effectiveness of internal controls and identify areas for improvement.
  • Prepare audit reports with findings and recommendations for action.
  • Liaise across departments to implement audit recommendations and monitor progress.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, BCom or a related field
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in internal audit or stock control, ideally within the retail industry
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
